60 categories across cosmetics, skincare, haircare, clinics and organic beauty.

The four sectors, and what separates them

Haircare & Personal Care Brands (15 categories) covers companies making shampoo, conditioner, scalp treatment, hair-growth and everyday personal-care products. Categories run from broad positioning (Best Haircare Brand Company, Most Trusted Haircare Platform) to specific formulation focuses (Leading Scalp Care Solution Provider, Best Hair Growth Solution Platform, Top Organic Haircare Company), so a brand built around one clear specialism has a direct category to enter rather than having to compete under a generic banner.

Cosmetics & Skincare Brands (15 categories) is the largest and most competitive sector, spanning makeup, skincare and general cosmetic product companies. It includes categories for premium and luxury positioning (Best Luxury Cosmetic Brand, Best Premium Skincare Company), for science-led claims (Top Anti Aging Solution Company, Leading Dermatology Skincare Provider), and for newer clean-formulation positioning (Leading Clean Beauty Brand) — so brands with very different value propositions are still matched to a category that reflects their actual claim rather than forced into a single "skincare" bucket.

Beauty Clinics & Aesthetic Centers (15 categories) is the only sector evaluating treatment-delivery businesses rather than product companies — laser and non-surgical aesthetic providers, dermatology-adjacent clinics, and broader wellness-oriented aesthetic centres. Because these businesses combine practitioner skill with facility standards in a way a packaged product doesn't, the criteria weigh practitioner qualifications and safety protocols alongside client outcomes, distinct from the formulation-and-ingredient evidence a product brand would submit.

Organic / Natural Beauty Products (15 categories) exists for brands whose core positioning is genuinely built around sourcing, formulation transparency and environmental practice — Best Organic Beauty Brand, Leading Sustainable Beauty Brand, Top Plant Based Skincare Provider and similar. Certification isn't a hard requirement to enter, but documented sourcing and sustainable packaging or supply-chain practice is what separates a strong nomination here from one that could equally have entered under the general cosmetics sector.

A single company sometimes has a genuine case to enter more than one sector — an organic-formulated haircare brand, for example, could credibly fit either the haircare or the organic sector. Where that overlap is real, enter under whichever sector your evidence most specifically supports; the cross-sector Beauty Brand of the Year recognition exists precisely for brands whose overall strength spans more than one sector.

Who is eligible

  • Cosmetics, skincare, haircare and nailcare brands of any size
  • Aesthetic clinics and non-surgical beauty treatment centres
  • Organic, natural and clean-beauty companies
  • Any country — categories run at city, country, regional and world level

Why product-side recognition is judged differently from salon recognition

It's worth being explicit about why Beauty & Cosmetics Awards exists as a separate group from Salon Awards rather than folding brands into the same categories. A salon's jury evidence is largely experiential — what happened when a real client walked through the door — and is gathered through reviews, retention data and direct observation of the space and team. A brand's jury evidence is largely evidentiary in a different sense: formulation and safety documentation, clinical or consumer-testing data, sourcing records, and market and customer-trust data that a salon simply doesn't generate in the same form. Judging both under one set of criteria would either dilute the salon criteria to accommodate brands, or force brands to submit evidence they don't naturally produce — so the two groups run on tailored criteria that reflect what a credible submission from each actually looks like.

That distinction also shapes how a combined salon-and-brand business should think about entering. A salon chain that also sells a private-label skincare range, for example, has a genuine case to enter twice — once under Salon Awards for the service business, and once under the relevant Beauty & Cosmetics sector for the product line — because the jury evaluating each will be looking for fundamentally different kinds of evidence, and a single combined nomination would likely undersell one side or the other.

Beauty & Cosmetics Awards — FAQs

Which award category fits a skincare brand?

The Cosmetics & Skincare Brand Awards group, with categories from Best Skincare Brand Company to Most Innovative Beauty Product Platform.

Is it free to nominate for World Salon Awards 2027?

Yes. Submitting a nomination for World Salon Awards 2027 is free. No nomination charge applies.

Can a clean-beauty or organic brand enter both the cosmetics group and the organic group?

A brand should enter the category whose description best fits its positioning; the research team can advise if more than one seems relevant.

Is there a single flagship recognition across all beauty brand sectors?

Yes — Beauty Brand of the Year considers a brand's overall strength across growth, innovation and customer trust, regardless of sector.

Is the evaluation merit-based, or is there a public vote?

Evaluation is merit-based. An independent jury of beauty industry professionals scores each shortlisted nomination against the published criteria; sponsorship, advertising spend and gala ticket purchases have no influence on jury decisions.

Is this only for large, established brands?

No — there is no minimum trading history requirement for most categories, and independent and emerging brands are judged on the same evidence-based criteria as larger companies.

Is World Salon Awards open to salons and brands outside the Middle East?

Yes. World Salon Awards is genuinely global — hair salons, beauty salons, nail studios, barbershops, cosmetics brands and individual professionals from any country are eligible, with categories judged at city, country, regional and world level.

What evidence should a brand nomination include?

Product quality and safety credentials, customer or client data, innovation or formulation detail, sustainability claims with evidence, and sales or distribution reach where relevant.

Does distribution reach or retail footprint matter more than product quality?

Product and formulation evidence carries the most weight; distribution and market reach are considered as supporting context rather than a substitute for demonstrated quality.

Can a private-label or contract-manufactured brand enter under its own name?

Yes — eligibility is based on the brand as marketed and sold to customers, regardless of manufacturing arrangement, provided the nominating company owns the brand.

Does the brand need to be sold internationally to qualify for a world-level category?

A genuinely international footprint (multiple countries, meaningful cross-border sales or distribution) supports a world-level entry; a brand trading in a single market is better matched to a city or country-level nomination in that market.

Can a subscription or direct-to-consumer-only brand enter, without traditional retail distribution?

Yes — distribution model is not an eligibility requirement; direct-to-consumer brands are judged on the same product and customer-trust evidence as retail brands.

Do white-label or in-house salon retail lines count as a separate brand entry?

If the product line is marketed and sold under its own name, it can be nominated as a brand in its own right, separately from the salon's own Salon Awards entry.

Is packaging design considered as part of brand presentation?

Yes — brand presentation is one of the published criteria, and packaging is a reasonable part of the evidence for how a brand presents itself, alongside marketing materials and retail presence.

Can a brand that has undergone a recent reformulation still cite its full trading history?

Yes — describe the reformulation in the nomination; the evidence submitted (current formulation, current customer data) is what's evaluated, alongside the business's overall track record.

Does a brand need third-party retail stockists, or can direct sales alone qualify?

Direct sales alone are sufficient; retail distribution is supporting evidence of market reach, not an eligibility requirement.
